Prior to that, Tug-Blue Water was purchased after an official process of condition survey and professional inspections by experts. Job Description

The second officer takes specific responsibility for navigation, the upkeep of charts, and software. They oversee navigation and radio equipment and undertake bridge watches at sea, and may also be the vessel’s designated security, safety or medical officer.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Working under the supervision of the Chief Officer and his superiors.

  • in charge of testing and maintaining all navigational equipment. Additionally, he updates various publications including navigational charts.

  • report to the Master for Navigation, Bridge Operations, and Emergency Responses. For all other duties, he reports to the Chief Officer.

  • handles equipment maintenance, especially those related to the Global Maritime Distress and Safety Systems.

  •  Ensure that all members of the relieving Bridge team are fit for duty, particularly as regards their adjustment to night vision.

  • Ensure the testing and functionality of all navigational instruments, lights, and signals. This includes gyro & magnetic compasses, RADARS/ ARPA, echo sounders, autopilots, GPS, etc.

  • Ascertain that all spares for navigation equipment are sufficient on board

  • Prepare to fix a detailed voyage plan based upon instructions from the Master. Must lay off, on the appropriate charts, the courses for the entire voyage, from berth to berth (if known).

Requirements

  • At least one (1) year of experience as a 2nd Officer or 24 months as 3rd Officer.

  • 1-2 years of experience on-board vessels.

Certificates

  • More than 500 MT GRT 2ND Officer COC.

  • Valid Seaman’s Book & Passport for more than 6 months.

  • Medical Fitness certificate.

  • All Mandatory STCW Certificates.
